My Favorite Photos of 2015

Posted on December 30, 2015 by Jordan Steele

Every year I go back through the images I’ve taken and pick a selection of images that are my favorites from that year.  It helps to go through and see how my photography has progressed and to put a sort of ‘mini portfolio’ of the year together.  I’ve been really happy with the shots I’ve gotten this year, and it was very hard to narrow down my favorites from the year.  My initial cull brought me to 66 images, but I then further narrowed it to just 25 shots to present here.  There’s a wide variety of gear used, as many things were taken while I was reviewing equipment, showing that it’s really not the gear that matters in getting the shot, it’s simply your vision and your ability to record that light in the best way possible. Please note that these may not be my ‘best’ photos of 2015, but rather these are my favorite photos I took this year.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the site this past year.  We’ll have lots of great things coming up in 2016!  Enjoy!  Click on an image to enlarge.

The second photo is interesting. I wouldn’t have thought of using 8 seconds of exposure time to blur water and clouds in high-res mode.

Thanks. It did result in some artifacts in the water and sky, but a 1 pixel Gaussian blur over those areas fixed any artifacts, and didn’t impact the final image since those areas were already blurred by motion.

Hi Jordan. I am glad I found your blogs. I am a long time Canon shooter that lately has been intrigued by the mirrorless options. Lately, I’ve been investing in Fuji X system trying to make my gear less heavy/bulky. I enjoyed reading many of your blogs and subscribed to your RSS feed. Truly great collection of images.
