If you come to this site semi-regularly, I’m sure you have noticed that there have been no updates in over a year, and prior to that, there were only sporadic posts. I figured I should give a quick update on the future of this site.
First: the site is not going away. I will maintain what I’ve written here over the years, and I hope that some of the articles I’ve already published remain relevant. Second, I will continue to write, though my posting schedule has been and may continue to be delayed and erratic. It has been a very busy time for me both at work and home, and I’ve really not had much time to shoot over the past year and a half. So far in 2026 I’ve only gone out to shoot three times in the first four months. Not really conducive to photography output, nor writing about it.

Finally, I’m no longer going to do long-form reviews of gear. Frankly, after well over a decade of doing so, I’m just tired of it. It isn’t helped that most recent gear is frankly all pretty great, so writing huge pieces that take tens of hours to write to point out a small handful of differentiating items is a little difficult. However, I will still write about gear. Some I might even call a review, though these will be far more causal discussions of gear, pointing out any unique features, or how it integrates into my current shooting, etc. I’m planning a piece at some point (no promises on when) looking at my first DSLR ever compared to the Nikon Z50 II, both of which debuted at the same price point, just 20 years apart. Things like that.
I’ll also post any photographic trips or important shoots I do, that sort of thing. It’ll be a more casual affair moving forward, and hopefully a handful of people will stick around to read some of those thoughts. For those of you who have followed from the beginning, thanks for sticking around…I’ll try to give you something to come back for in the near future.
