Morning in the Gorge

This past weekend, I finally had some time to get out and do some proper shooting.  You know, where you get up early to catch the good light, you bring a tripod and really focus on the photography? I try to get out and shoot like this as often as I can, but given the …

Spilled Sky

Spilled Sky - Fujifilm X-E1 with Fujinon 18-55mm f/2.8-4 OIS

Took a quick walk out and about for a few pics.   Out near the river, this lovely mud puddle was in the perfect position to reflect the Ohio Supreme Court…I thought it looked like the sky was spilling out on to the concrete.

It’s Winter….

Winter Begins, Columbus, OH - Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8 @ 100mm, f/2.8 (click to enlarge)

Well, it’s the first day of Winter, and the first blast of wintry weather hear in central Ohio.  Cold and windy, so I only stopped for a few quick shots, but I think this captured the moment well:

Out in the Gorge

A Mossy Turn - Hocking Hills State Park, OH - Olympus OM-D E-M5 with 12mm f/2

I realized I never posted these, and thought I would share.  I had a little bit of time to swing by Hocking Hills State Park a few weeks ago and take a quick run through the gorge north of Old Man’s Cave.  While I normally make a yearly fall trip there for two days for …

A Visit to the Senate

Staircase Lines - Ohio Statehouse - Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Olympus 12mm f/2

Today I stopped by the Ohio Statehouse to take some pictures again.  It’s been so hot lately that the thought of outdoor photography is frankly just unbearable, so I thought I’d swing by the statehouse again to see if I could get anything new.   I’ve limited myself to the rotunda in the past, which …

Downtown at Dusk

Franklin County Courthouse - Olympus E-M5 with Panasonic 7-14mm f/4

Went downtown after a long day of work to take a few pictures.  I wanted to get some shots of the new County Courthouse, which is a pretty cool building.  Got there shortly before sunset which gave me some good light.  Then, as I walked back to the car, which I parked at Bicentennial Park, …

Random Shots From Yesterday

Old Barn, Near Jeffersonville, OH - Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Olympus 40-150mm f/4-5.6

Getting time to shoot… Well, despite being crazy busy at work, I actually found some time to shoot yesterday.  The first shot, to the left (click to enlarge) was a shot I’ve been meaning to take for months.  I drive past it every week on a way to a meeting.  It’s just off the highway.  …

Trying out Handheld Night Shooting with the OM-D

Bridges of Columbus - Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Olympus 45mm f/1.8, ISO 640, f/1.8, 1/6s

Took the OM-D out for a quick spin of night shooting this evening on the way home from work, sans tripod.  The in-body IS was rather astounding, and enabled me to keep the ISO relatively low even with a little longer lens.  This shot of the Main St and Town Street bridges in Columbus, was …
